OPTION PERIOD The option period allows the buyer to terminate the contract for any reason within the negotiated amount of days. We encourage you to do the inspections within that time, so you may terminate or negotiate the terms of the contract if major problems are found with the property. The amount of the option fee (required) and the length of the option period are negotiable between the buyer and the seller. The option period generally falls between 7 to 15 days and always begins on the executed date of the contract. Learn what the real estate consultants know about this special aspect of the contract.
